We started with a simple observation: in a country of a billion stories, very few of them get written down. Not because people have nothing to say, but because no one handed them a blank page and told them their words mattered.
REDBox Writings was created to change that. It is a space built around handwritten expression, one that treats letters, postcards, and personal writing not as school exercises but as acts of imagination, courage, and connection.
Writing by hand is different. It slows you down. It asks you to choose your words. It leaves a trace that is entirely yours, in an ink and a pressure and a shape that no keyboard can replicate. We believe that practice is worth protecting and growing.
- Every child has something worth saying, and the right to say it beautifully
- Handwriting is a form of presence that no digital message can fully replace
- Creative expression builds empathy, self-awareness, and the confidence to speak
- A culture of writing begins with a single blank postcard and someone who believes you can fill it
- Community grows when people share what they genuinely feel, not what they think sounds right
Our first campaign, India Edition 2026, is the most direct expression of everything REDBox Writings stands for. We are distributing 10,000 free postcards to children aged 8 to 16 across India, through schools, libraries, NGOs, and community centres.
Each postcard kit comes with writing prompts, a campaign guide for coordinators, and the space for children to write, draw, and imagine freely. There is no correct answer and no minimum standard. The only requirement is that something gets written.
Partners who apply before June 25, 2026 will receive a full kit of 20 or more postcards, a coordinator handbook, and dedicated support to run the campaign with their group. The postcards are free. The postage is on us.

We work with schools, libraries, NGOs, and community organisations rather than directly with individuals. Partners apply to receive postcard kits and take responsibility for running the campaign with their group.
Free, Always
Every postcard, every toolkit, every guide we produce is free of charge. The movement only works if cost is never a reason a child doesn't get to write.
Open Resources
Our library of toolkits, writing prompts, campaign guides, and global movement case studies is open to anyone, whether or not they are a formal partner.
Built on Community
We are a small team, and we are looking for writers, designers, educators, and organisers to help grow this. Our internship programme is open year-round.
India Edition 2026 is the beginning. The long-term vision for REDBox Writings is a living archive of handwritten stories from across the country, a national culture of creative writing that starts young and never stops, and a model that other countries can adopt.
Every postcard written this year is part of that archive. Every coordinator who runs the campaign is part of the infrastructure. Every child who fills a blank card is part of the movement.
We are not trying to compete with screens. We are building something that can exist beside them, something quieter, more personal, and more lasting.
